Buddhism Course and Meditation This Saturday; Children’s Classes Sunday

Good weather returning again this weekend, it is time to remind three Vihara programs offered this Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 20 & 21):

1. Theravada Buddhism Course (Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm)
This is the second day of the course. Those who missed the first day are welcome to attend. An audio recording of the first day’s lesson is posted on the Theravada Buddhism Class web page. The course is conducted in English and is free of change.

2. Weekly Mediation Session (Saturday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm)
This meditation session, with a discussion period as well, was offered previously on Fridays. Upon participants’ request, it has now been moved to Saturday on regular basis.

Your teacher of both programs is Ven. Dedunupitiye Upananda Nayaka Thero, who has specialized in the Pali Language for his B.A (Honors) from the University of Kelaniya and earned two M. A. degrees in Buddhist Studies and Comparative Religion from the University of Cambridge and Florida International University.

3. Children’s Dhamma, Sinhala, Music and Dance Classes (Sunday from 8:30 a.m.)
This is the second day of classes in spring 2017. As usual, the Puja begins at 8:30 a.m. Importantly, children and adults will practice musical recitals and dancing to be performed on Sri Lanka’s Independence Day–on Feb. 4.
